details: the goblin king

what i've figured out so far.


WHO

surprise, surprise, he has been watching over you ever since you arrived. he's a powerful sorcerer who has spent most of his time robbing children, turning them into goblins, singing about it and ruling over his kingdom of goblins (or muppets as you prefer to call them). he's an old figure in the tumba taure mythology. the legends tell that all the muppets were human before they were taken by the goblin king. superstitious people fear he'll come and steal their babies at night. lock your windows, boys and girls. you might run across these tales during your journeys.

at one point he grew bored of kidnapping and decided to take over the world. that didn't go too well. it's referred to as the great war or something. the name changes a lot. i'm not sure what happened. anyway people and muppets fought each other and in the end muppets were no longer welcome to the other continent. they get along somewhat well now because the war took place a long time ago, but the king still holds a grudge against humans who he finds both repulsive and interesting.

nowadays he's busy raising another army and stalking the fellowship.

ps. the labyrinth canon still stands. you're in the same world as his goblin city. isn't that exciting? the story takes place a long time after he met sarah.

WHAT

he's the king of all muppets in tumba taure, but this doesn't mean that they all obey him. you might run into muppets who don't believe in his cause but also muppets who have been talked into tricking you by the king. basically whenever you need motivation for someone to be shitty with the group you can say the king made them to. he's quick to find out if someone has been disobeying him.

he uses crows to spy for him as you might have noticed already. creating obstacles in the fellowship's way is also fun.

WHY

he and the old troll from the beginning of the game go back a long way. the old troll made the mistake of wishing someone to take away ??* and the goblin king did as ordered. ever since that the old troll used all his powers to get ?? back. he managed to create a map that would help him to get to their rescue, but he died of old age before finding his way there.

this is where the fellowship steps into the picture. how? it wasn't the old troll who summoned them. it was ?? who's still being held captive by the goblin king. he/she created a spell that pulls in people from different worlds and times in order to save him/her. why is the goblin king allowing this? simply because he finds it hilarious. he's bored and watching these incompetent fools fight their way through the map amuses him greatly. he figures they'll never make it to the end anyway.

* someone very Powerful and Important. i don't know yet!! anyway he/she's probably dear to the old troll since he referred to them as his treasure. he/she's also feared for his/her powers. what made the old troll wish him away? being capable of such a spell makes you wonder what else they can do? what will happen when they're released? (maybe people want to stop the fellowship for this reason too.) one thing is sure that if there's someone who can send the fellowship members back to their original worlds it's ??.
